How to create the merged collection of disks for the x68 gamebase.

* Sorry but your going to have to do a bit of work before you can play. ;)
* But this cuts the download size from 2.7 GB to 900 MB. (thanks to 7zip)

PLEASE NOTE:
You MUST download the all the parts of the Sharp x68000 collection.

Megaupload requires cookies enabled to see the Download Code.

Sharp X68000.7z.001
Part 1 of 2 (499 MB)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UQNKJHT7

Sharp X68000.7z.002
Part 2 of 2 (393 MB)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y16181ZS

X68000 Gamebase, Screens & Installer (80 MB)
for use with the 7zip TOSEC Collection
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4SQJ2XYA

There are two ways you can merge and sort the disks.
----------------------------------------------------

Step 1) Using the Installer by AAG (gbplayer).

Extract the Gamebase archive, keeping the Dir structure intact.
copy the 2 7z files into the X68000/Installer directory (with the X68KMain.bat file).
run X68KMain.BAT.

All the games will be Renamed and sorted into the "x68000/Installer/Games" Directory.
This takes about 15 minuets.

when it's finished...
open the X68000/Installer/Games directory and run the Sortintofolders.bat file.

move the installer/games folder to your required location and set the paths in the gamebase.

copy the disks from the Fixed Versions Dir over the originals.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Step 2) Using Romcenter with the included Dat file.

1) Extract the DIM images from the 7z archive files. (http://www.7-zip.org)

2) Add all the DIM files to there own seperate ZIP archive.

if you are using WINRAR
select all files
tick the Archive Format box for "ZIP"
select Menu files/ and tick "put each file to seperate archive".

4) Install and run Romcenter v2.71 (http://romcenter.com)
open the Data file manager window an add the data file "Romcenter.DAT"
select the DAT file from the menu.
add the ROM path (where you just put the ZIPPED disks)
select all the files and press the FIX button.

-This will rename and merge all the multiple disk games to the GameBase name format.

5) copy the "SortIntoFolders.bat" into the directory with the new merged disks and run it.

--------
This gamebase contains many ADULT games,
and should not be played by minors.

Please use the ADULT filter option.
the default gamebase password is "password".

I have spent hours trying to set up the roms...to no avail. :(

Method #1 stops at "B" and gives me this error ("Battle Unit II.zip" missing from extracted files/additional files )

And method #2, I don't even want to start on the problems that Romcenter is giving me...Let's just say I can't get it to work...

user42 - I get the same here with method1

.mad. - The problem seems to be in the X68KRename.bat :-

call :nameit "battle unit ii (1992)(takumi soft).dim" "Battle Unit II.dim"

But the x68kZip.bat is expecting :-

call :zipit "Battle Unit II.zip" "Battle Unit II_Disk A.dim"
call :zipit "Battle Unit II.zip" "Battle Unit II_Disk B.dim"

(Perhaps within x68kZip.bat - the :zipit sub function should also log %2 !

Code: Select all

if not exist %2 echo %1 missing from extracted files/additional files >> ..\errors.txt

I've just commented those lines regarding "Battle Unit II.zip" and its running through now....

[EDIT] Just failed on "DPS SG Set 1.zip" (DPS SG_Disk 1(System).dim) Just sent a PM to .mad now

fix

Wed May 13, 2009 7:57 pm

Found some rename issues
this should fix it.

*********

i created a user disk for Battle Unit II to get the game working.
but forgot to change the batch file afterwards.

if you still can't get it working?
edit the 2 batch files (RENAME and ZIP)
and delete all the lines that contain

Battle Unit II
DPS SG Set 1

then add the games manually after install.

Sorry

Hi

I was hoping to catch you before you did any update - but too late now!

I've done a "dummy run" of the zipping batch file :-

The original version has these missing source disks :-

"Battle Unit II_Disk A.dim" "Battle Unit II.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 1(System).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 2(Kateikyoushi Ha Suteki Na Oshigoto).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 3(Fahnen Fliegen).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 4(Nobunaga No Inbou).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu II DX+_User.dim" "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu II DX+.zip"
"Klax.dim" "Klax.zip"
"Laplace No Ma_User.xdf" "Laplace No Ma.zip"
"Majinguu_Character.XDF" "Majinguu.zip"
"Sabnack_User.xdf" "Sabnack.zip"
"Soukoban_Disk 1.dim" "Soukoban.zip"
"Soukoban_Disk 2.dim" "Soukoban.zip"
"Winning Post_User.xdf" "Winning Post.zip"
"Yajiuma Pennant Race 1989_USER.XDF" "Yajiuma Pennant Race 1989.zip"

Your updated installer has these issues :-

"DPS SG_Disk 1(System).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 2(Kateikyoushi Ha Suteki Na Oshigoto).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 3(Fahnen Fliegen).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"DPS SG_Disk 4(Nobunaga No Inbou).dim" "DPS SG Set 1.zip"
"Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu II DX+_User.dim" "Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu II DX+.zip"
"Klax.dim" "Klax.zip"
"Laplace No Ma_User.xdf" "Laplace No Ma.zip"
"Majinguu_Character.XDF" "Majinguu.zip"
"Sabnack_User.xdf" "Sabnack.zip"
"Soukoban_Disk 1.dim" "Soukoban.zip"
"Soukoban_Disk 2.dim" "Soukoban.zip"
"Winning Post_User.xdf" "Winning Post.zip"
"Yajiuma Pennant Race 1989_USER.XDF" "Yajiuma Pennant Race 1989.zip"

NOTE For anyone who wants to get the 99.99% of the other games working - then just comment out the below bold/italic from X68KZip.bat (so anything in error.txt should be a "true" zipping error)

:zipit
if exist ..\errors.txt goto :end
rem if not exist %2 echo %1 missing from extracted files/additional files >> ..\errors.txt
if not exist %2 goto :end
..\7za464\7za.exe a -tzip "..\GAMES\"%1 %2
if not %ERRORLEVEL%==0 echo "zipping errors for %1 , %2" >> ..\errors.txt
if not %ERRORLEVEL%==0 goto :end

PS - Excellent work - thanks for all the time/effort - I know the screenshots took an age!

I have relinked the game in the database but the game don't start in the emulator. I think the dim file is bad.

better installer

Thu May 14, 2009 6:21 pm

Ok i think i sussed it.?
the installer was ignoring the XDF disks.

*AAG says the "BASE" Directory works better without spaces.
*so try the installer dir in
*c:\temp
*if it fails to work for you.

i really should have tested this more. :x

The new installer does the trick. The "Gamebase verify" lists :-

Sim Ant (1993)(Imagineer).XDF

As missing - but that mentioned a few posts above.

Thanks again!

I must agree. the new installer works a charm.
This is a fantastic addition to the Gamebase family, and it is very much appreciated.
I recall years ago working with the emulator, and had it all working (nice gui etc) after several hours of trial and error, ini changes yada yada.
I then stupidly let someone else at the thing, they 'tinkered' with it, and stuffed it completely.
A real joy to play the Nemesis / gradius games again on this platform.

:)
