Gamebase on removable media

Thu Nov 06, 2003 8:57 pm

Hi all.
This is my first post, and I'd like to thank the whole team for this wonderful effort called gamebase!
You are great!!! :D

I finally got gamebase iso(s  ).
I installed gamebase on hd. No problems. Everything configured and working fine.

...and here comes my question...

I was now wondering (since I have "some" roms) if it would be possibile for me to burn everything that is now installed on my hd (gb, emus, extras, roms, etc.) on a dvd-r and then execute gamebase directly from there. Since I know gamebase requires to be installed and configured on hd to work properly, I thought it would be wise to ask you an opinion before throwing some time in stupid efforts... :P
In your opinion, would it be possible?

Thanks in advance.

It would be in contravention of the license to put gamebase on a DVD-R and combine it with the game images, so please don't do it. It is possible in the same way that it's possible to get gamebase to run from 2 CDs, please don't do it.

oooops...

Ok. That's all I have to know.

Sorry, I have read the license without the attention it needed. :(

I'd like to know how to do this for personal use, NOT for distribution. For using my legitimately store-bought games.

If it's only for legitimate store bought games I'd be surprised if you'd needed a DVD-R, a CD-R should suffice unless you have the biggest collection of C64 originals in the world  (The CD1 that's doing the rounds has at least 150 megs free space on it for game images - if you do a personal custom GB64 CD)

But seriously like I said above you can get gamebase to run from 2 CDRs which is easy enough using the 2 CD images that are doing the rounds, so getting it to run off 1 CDR/DVDR will present no problems. Obviously you will have to install Gamebase & the emulators to your HD...but you can link in all the games/sids/screenshots & extras to read off the optical disk(s).
