Apologies if this is in the wrong place

Wed Sep 12, 2007 9:09 am

Hi all, I've been using GB64 for a while now, and i decided to start adding some other databases (Snes, Amiga and Spectrum) but i've come across a stumbling block with all of them!!

Gamebase is having problems finding my games as they are named differently that in the ones in the db files, now I had considered renaming all the game files but realised that doing that could take one helluva long time - I'd use the BAC but its unfinished and now I dont know what to do. Surely theres an easy way around this??? I have all the TOSEC dat files but im not sure how to implement them into gamebase as it only seems to like romcenter dats (which I cant find anywhere)

iirc you can convert tosec dats to romcenter dats using TIM not 100% certain tho, check out the tosec site for info

just a thought :idea:

have you tried DATAMA against your TOSEC game collections.

also all the TOSEC dats are available in the RomCenter format.

**update**
http://darkside.rommanager.com/
all TOSEC DATs are available here in CM format.
just convert them to RC using the util from http://logiqx.com/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What is datama ?
----------------
DataMa is a little utility to create a RomCenter data file from a list of zipped roms.

What is romcenter ?
-------------------
RomCenter is a rom audit utility. It scans any zip files for roms, check missing, duplicated, bad roms and repair them.
You can download a version at www.romcenter.com

How to use datama ?
-------------------
Unzip DataMa in a directory, and run it.
Choose "load rom" in menu, and select a directory.
Datama displays your rom directory content (crc, size...)
Select "save as" in the menu.
Enter the name you want to give to the data file, usually the system or emulator name, and other infos.
Select where you want to save your file, and that's it !

Snes and nes special feature
----------------------------
RomCenter use header-free crc for snes and nes rom detection. This version of datama can do that. Simply select snes or nes before extracting roms.

Now what ?
----------
Copy it in the romcenter datas directory and try it.
Send me a copy to merge with other data files.

Data file format:
-----------------

Sample:
[CREDITS]
Author=Eric Bole-Feysot - romcenter at emuhq.com
Version=1.0 - 01 mar 2000 (Version of this file)
Comment=Please report any errors to romcenter
[DAT]
version=1.90 (Version of the data file structure. Don't change)
[EMULATOR]
refname=raine (Generic name of the emulator)
version=Raine v 0.24a (Version of the emulator)
exe=d:\arcade\raine\raine.exe (Emulator executable)
playcmd=-nogui -game (Command line options to run game)
romspaths=d:\arcade\raine\ziproms\;f:\raine\;d:\download\emul\raine\; (Roms paths)
[GAMES] (roms list)
¬64Street¬64th Street¬64Street¬64th Street¬64th_04.rom¬98f83ef6¬N¬O¬65536¬
...
Format is
¬game dos name¬game full namet¬clone dos name¬clone full name¬rom name¬rom crc¬N¬O¬size¬
The two fields 'N' are only used in mame. Do not change them.

Game and clone are usually the same.
You can enter the full name in the fields 2 and 4.

You can also fill the header with your name etc...

Copy it in the romcenter datas directory and try it.
