games with no file extension in atari 2600 rom format

Thu Mar 06, 2008 2:56 pm

Hi
I am trying to build a simple atari 2600 front-end and have run into a snag. Using Stella emulator I have found several roms that have no file extension, however the files load and play just fine if you load them from the emulator. problem is I can't convince gamebase to recognize a file with no extension as a file that the emulator can use. Anybody have any ideas. have gone into gemus and tried to set supported file types but can't find a way to tell it to recognize a file with no extension. Have tried renaming the file with an extension but then neither Stella or game base will recognize the file as a supported file type. Any ideas how I can solve this problem?

can you just put some known extension to them
and see if stella still recognizes them and play them with no problem?

If Stella takes a zip file as an input what about just feeding the zip file into Stella?

Nope, as I said in the original post, I have tried changing the file name to add an extension. the neither gamebase or stella will recognize the file.

The original file is not zipped, but I will try zipping it and enter it that way and let you know what happens.

My apoligies, I was renameing the file in the wrong
rom folder. when I discovered my error I renamed the file
with an exceptable extension and it works just fine. Thanks for
the suggestions they did help me to figure it out, That I was the
real problem.
