Using Gamebase on an external HD

Thu Mar 31, 2011 9:14 pm

I'm finding it more convenient using GB and all its files, screenshots, etc on a USB external HD.

But when i go from computer to computer, it sometimes won't work because sometimes my external drive changes to D:/ or F:/ or even G:/ when I've got everything linked on E: Drive.

Anyway around this inconvenience?

I guess you could install it to a drive letter that is available on all computers ( eg Z: ) and then make use of the SUBST command.

also if gamebase is installed and run from your USB drive
the root DIR is stored as [install dir] Gamebase.

so the full dir path is not needed in the paths.ini
C:\Program Files\GameBase\AmstradMania\

you can change the paths.ini setup like this..

[Games]
1=AmstradMania\Games
2=
[Pictures]
1=AmstradMania\Screenshots
2=AmstradMania_V3\Screenshots
3=
[Extras]
1=AmstradMania\Extras
2=
[Misc]
Photos=AmstradMania\Musician Photos
Music=AmstradMania\Music

It needs a mobile version, although it works for me, I have had to install GameBase 1.3 on every PC first, or the frontend won't run.
