how to join 2 databases together into one??

Fri Oct 01, 2004 1:19 pm

For example, one person is working on letters A-M.
They have their database all up and running.
Another person is working on N-Z.
They have *their* databse all up and running.
How to join the databases?

This is based on the same directory structure for music, extras existing.

(But what if they were not? is there an import data feature??) :idea:

In the earlier versions of GB there was a utility program to do this sort of merging, but nothing exists right now to merge databases. If you want to see how complicated it is, then read this article: http://databasejournal.com/features/msa ... hp/2236471

Whilst the illustrious import utility remains 'in development', a parallel discussion concerning the manual merging of databases may be of some help. It can be found on these forums at;
Subject: Merging Databases? :)
http://www.gb64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=515

The above link provides an update and additional information to another article;
Subject: importing publishers lists between dbs
http://www.gb64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=430

But be warned, as stated at the end of the 'Merging Databases?' thread, you may find that your Gamebase crashes because you missed out one or two nominal field entries.
Hence, none of this is for the lighthearted but if the crashing problem should happen, the nominal entries which could fix your problem are listed at;
