Bugs in game Bad Image/Copy-Centauri Alliance

Tue Nov 02, 2004 7:41 pm

:( Out of all the people that have downloaded this game, not a one has mentioned a very bad bug in the Centauri Alliance images on the net which were supposedly cracked from Hotpoint. The problem is that you will get a "cpu jam" when taking a step after entering areas or dungeons as some call them. The most obvious is the one below the base known as Omicron VII (the beginning starter dungeon) There are only two directions to go- north or east- after you have finished the disk load. Taking a step in either direction will cause a "cpu jam" I have tested this game in the same area with all versions of Vice and CCS64, have also tested with pc 64 with same results. As a last ditch effort I compared some of the critical dialogue and text you see in the game with an old Apple image which is at 100% and found that there is a LOT of information missing on the c64 disks images. The worst part about the whole thing is that EVERYONE and I do mean everyone has the same incomplete, flawed images by Hotline.....Is there anyone out there that has a good complete image of this game????

Well I've got two sets of original disks here at home. Could always make them the first test of my MNIB setup (whenever it gets finished!).

I have an 8-disk (d64s) Illusion version that you can try. Let me know your email so I can send it to you for testing.

:D Many thanks go out to Mayhem and J2003C. I have mailed both of you my e-mail address and look forward to receiving a couple of e-mails with some 100% c64 working images soon. I am making a guess that this particular game was copy protection heavy. Fake sectors, maybe some errors, and more than likely it had stuff like 40 tracks over the standard 35 (thus the truncation of info)...Once again many thanks in advance.
