extra Game Genres

Tue Apr 08, 2008 11:23 am

Can somone in the Gamebase team add extra options to the database file in Gamebase such as shoot em up\Galaxians etc so to give a more accurate discription of games. Maybe in a future update to the Gamebase frontend or as a downloadable file to overwrite the empty one included in the gamebase frontend.

I am still working on APPSnTOOLSbase64, a collection that contains C64 non-game software.
So I can't do much with the standard genres list in the GameBase frontend.
I want to use genres like Graphics/Drawing (HiRes) or Utilities/Disk drive.
If you have Microsoft Access installed, you can open the MDB with it and edit the tables Genres and P_Genres. That's how I did it and it works.
However, it would be much easier to edit these tables directly with the frontend or (better) with the GameBase Toolbox.

sorry for activating this old topic....

Is it still not possible, to add new Genres in Gambease ?

I haven't MS Access, so i used OpenOfficeOrg, to add some new Genres in the GB/*.mdb...

Unfortunately, the edited *.mdb seems to be broken now....(runtime error 94)
Of course, i've first made a copy of my orig. *.mdb, so no data's are lost

It would be nice to have this Feature directly in the GB Toolbox !

To bump an aging thread, I've found its quite easy done even without MS Access.

I used MDB Browser and Editor 2.3 (freeware)

I was able to add my own parent and sub genres, removed unused ones, etc.

Surprising its very easy to use. :D
