At some point I'm going to corall my last WIP on GB20 and send it over to Mad so he can incorporate anything I have that he does not. Maybe even including TacScan...

I suppose it's fitting he started it and I took over and really drove it forward, but he's still involved in matters going back to you. Hope you're keeping up with all the new Vic20 releases homebrew wise too!

Hi .mad, I'm also at a loss, deleted the Vic20 gb, uninstalled the gamebase front end, started from scratch. Made sure there was nothing in roaming for Vice.

Reinstalled Gamebase FE, upacked the file from mega, verified all the files...Still the same..

The only thing I can think of is that 'maybe' the script file in the one on Mega isn't exactly the same one you yourself use?

Any chance of posting the Script folder from the Vic-20 that you use..Can't think of anything else, I even stopped my anti virus stuff in case they were not playing nice. My machine is totally clean, I would be annoyed if it wasn't, I'm a fully trained up IT guy (no, not a screen reader at some IT company :) ) the real thing, Just not fully MS certified (could not afford the wonga for the course).

It's so weird, if I load the files directly via GTKVice and not through the Gamebase, then it all works, so it's not any of the games (I knew they were ok and the WinVice 2.4 happily loaded them via the gamebase.

The only common link is the scripts...

Even after 40years in the industry, I still find myself hating computers :)

Hi Paul,

here are the scripts...

"autostart-VIC20.d64" keymap and pallette files are important in the scripts folder!
i put them there because i made them, and they are not included in the emulator archive.

so that could be it.
missing "autostart-VIC20.d64" file = broken script = no run emulator.

please can you rem lines out, in the script and debug it.
;Add_CLP( -autostartprgdiskimage "%dbpath%\scripts\autostart-VIC20.d64")
;Add_CLP( -VICextpal -VICpalette "%dbpath%\scripts\WinVICE.vpl")
;Add_CLP( -symkeymap "%dbpath%\scripts\sdl_sym_uk.vkm")
;Add_CLP( -poskeymap "%dbpath%\scripts\sdl_pos_uk.vkm")
;Add_CLP( -symkeymap "%dbpath%\scripts\gtk3_sym_uk.vkm")
;Add_CLP( -poskeymap "%dbpath%\scripts\gtk3_pos_uk.vkm")

https://hewco.itch.io/monster-muncher

Then you get stuff like this, a massive fixed version of Matthew Smith's Monster Muncher game.

I'm sure there's a few things you won't have. An image for Tac-Scan for example. Many of Martijn Wenting's Vic20 games. Stuff like that.

I'd forgotten he'd offered them digitally, he sent me the files a long time ago for my perussal. Or do you mean you bought the tapes and dumped them?

Paul..
i wonder if it has anything to do with spaces in the file names, and your setup.

try loading...
Abductor.prg (no spaces in filename).
does it work?

you say Acey Ducey didn't work
Acey^Ducey.prg - rename to AceyDucey.prg and relink file.
does it work now?

Just for info.

Spaces in filenames was the problem for Paul.
it was fixed with the updated GEMUS.dll (2019).

so i guess no one else had any problems?.
or has bothered to play with VIC-20.

fixed command-line in script for vic-20.
for use with latest gtk3 version.

problem.
too many quotes when using the fixed gemus.dll.

fix.
removed quotes from -autostart "%gamepathfile%"

if you don't have the gemus.dll
try using short filenames in emulators.ini.
