Use a UltraEdit to Hex edit your save game file "SALVA01.SIR".
(found in the installed game directory. )

* THE FILE SIZE CHANGES DEPENDING ON YOUR LOCATION,
* AND ITEMS HELD.
if your inventory is empty.
The end of the save game will look like a bit like this.

Please Note.
Each item uses Five Bytes. (00 00 00 00 00).
The first represents the item and the fifth the quantity
edit more than this and you will corrupt the file.
Using the Key below try and see what the items are.
HEX Key for items.
00 = Rotten Meat (feed Pirhanna)
01 = Rock (Kill fish / Archers)
02 = Bottle of Wine (Toll for Ferryman)
03 = Rope (climb down from a high place)
04 = Bow and Arrows
05 = Flute (make the magic rope uncoil)
06 = Sword
07 = Gold Key
08 = Platform / Stool
09 = Music Sheet (open organs secret door)
0A = Matches (Explode bombs)
0B = Flaming Torch
0C = Grey Key
0D = Blue Key
0E = Tap (Flood Room)
0F = Cross Jewel (Stop Demon)
10 = Chicken (Energy)
You should see the items are as follows.
item 1 - Matches (0A)
item 2 - Sword (06)
item 3 - Bow (04) with 9 arrows (09)
item 4 - chicken leg (10) number of them 1 (01)
now lets say you want to change the matches for the music sheet.
you will need to change "0A" on the First line to "09".
then save the edited file.
Now load the Save file it into the game.
quantity of Items
change the number of Arrows or Rocks you have.
01 - FF = 1-255
if you try and have multiple Chicken legs.
the item quantity changes but when you eat it. you loose it.
(to stop cheaters i suppose.)
not a problem now.
just eat the chicken, save the game.
edit it, and give yourself another one.
