GameBase Vic20-Reloaded in processing...

Sat Jan 21, 2012 11:23 pm

Hi GameBase Friends,

Because Mayhem's GameBase has very rare Screenshots in it, (talking about the actually GB20 v0.2) i first decided to add more ingame-screenshots into his GameBase.

But then i had more and more ideas what i could also add to the GB20 v0.2.......

Well, Long story short :

I now decided to make an almost new Commodore Vic20 GameBase :)

First : It is not possible for me to create "my" GameBase without Mayhems hard work on Game-Collections !!! (tape-inlays, manuals, covers, etc, etc...)

So, i hope he will also continue the work on his GameBase !
(maybe we can work together for next releases....if he like my ideas  )

What makes my GameBase diff. to Mayhem's ?
- GB use the complete TOSEC-Structure for Games (just point the GB-Game-directory to your vic20-tosec-folder....in example e:\TOSEC\Commodore Vic20\Games)
...(use "All Games Excluding Clones/Doubles" in GB , to see only the favorite version each game)
- checksumm CRC32 (manually added)
- all games will have a short video-clip
- all games will have 2 or more ingame-screenshots
- games will have a 3D-Cover-Screenshot (if available) [created with Imandix-Cover-Pro]
- games will have 3D-animated-Cover (watch them in 360 degrees in your web-browser....look pictures) [created with Imandix-Cover-Pro]
- New Info-Field TOSEC Name / No-Intro Name
- Keyboard-Games will be controlled via XPadder ! (like in my Atom-GB)

...well, thats all i remember at the moment.......

I will not give you a release date for this project.....
but i think it will take 5-6 month...maybe more...

atm i've made all screenshots and video-clips for numbers and Letter A.

btw.
i will also use the screenshots, videos, 3D-covers etc, for the new Frontend eCC2 (emuControlCenter).
This is also a great Frontend with some extras that GB don't have (yet...)
As you can see on the last picture : watching video-clip & 3D-Cover-animation is integrated in the eCC2-GUI.
This is what i also want in Jimbo's GameBase !!!

here you can see a Screenshot of Mayhems GB (left) and my new project.

You know, its kinda funny, but I was just looking at this section this morning thinking it had been a while since anything had been posted here.

It looks and sounds like a very good update in progress.

Hello Vicman,

me and my colleague saw your videos on Youtube.
Is there a possibility to download them?

If you are talking about downloading Youtube videos there are browser add-ons available to add
download abilities, but Youtube frequently breaks them, and they need occasional updating.

If you are talking about actually getting the updated gamebase, I guess you just need to be patient
like the rest of us.

Hi kiki,
if you use firefox as your browser, you can use the plug-in :
Easy You Tube Video Downloader to download the video-clips.

Oh sorry, i wrote the wrong meaning. I meant the games for the VC20, not the videos.

Wow, thank you very much for the link. A Gamebase collection for VC20 is really great! :D

May I share the link with other VC20 users?

Hi stanstimer,

i am afraid it will take longer than planned

It takes a lot of time to create new screenshots, 3D-animated covers and 3D-Cover-screenshots....
Much more time than i thought......

Also the Game-Video-Clips.
I had finished about 230 video-clips....but
last week i decided to recapture all videos in a much better quality.....
In fact : The new Game-Clips will have (official) "EmuMovie-Quality"

So, please be patient.......i hope it's worth :D

Hi Guys,

just want to let you know....
This project will not be released this year....sorry :?

'cause there is to much to do with the extras.
I'm still capturing videoclips (atm about 800 clips are finished, that are the games from Letter A - L )
Also the screenshots A - L are final.

So, i would say 15 % of the project is finished.....

I'm also working on the TOSEC Project (VIC20 Datfiles), and still create Imagepacks (VIC20) for the Frontend eCC & eCC2.

So i can't create the GB this year.
I promised myself to release it next year.

Short Info : GameBase is still in work....
...but it takes much more time i thought....
many metadatas....many extras -> long way to go
But the project is not dead !

Project is not dead....but very big.
Still working on it from time to time.
Here you can see , how it looks at the moment :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwBYRVe6H4U

and here the Screenshots, 3D-Covers & 3D-Cover animation etc. in the Frontend eCC2
i'm using exactly the same Folder Structure, so i can use all Xtras in the Frontend Gamebase and eCC2.
