i must say, this is NOT my GameBase.

i have converted them all to HDF for my copy.
they all boot with a menu to select README, MANUAL, SLAVE options (Trainer or alternate level data disk).

The HDF pack uses WinUAE save states for hi-scores and save games, as the converted HDF can not be written to.
The script used, was intended to make them run on a XBOX.
Which makes them very GameBase friendly.

But i think, an upload of all WHD updates from KGWHD (2009) to Retroplay (2016) is more likely.
with a handfull of HDF for games with protected files.

Surely they can be written to if you unzip them first.

Also make sure to quit games properly using Quit Key (can be set globally in WHDLoad.prefs), if not, save games and highscores will not be saved.

i do not think so, in the current state.

The script works by using a 40MB HDF.
It copies the files to that image then trims and saves the image with the exact number of Cylinders used.
the results are tiny HDF files.

Example.
Dux is converted into a 48K HDF file.

from the script Readme file...

I wanted to have a separate hdf for each WHDLoad game for WinuaeX. This means each WHDLoad game can have a separate WinuaeX configuration, and each can have a set of ten save-states. Save-states work well because the hdf files are never written to.

Save states is not always a good idea.

From what i understand...
seems that problem will only occur in a few games.
mainly RPG or strategy that calculate many variables, the standard arcade games should be fine.

But good to know compact HDF isn't going to work for all games.
A possible save disk in DF0: might work.
Or i could create a larger HDF file for those that need the save space?.

thanks for the info.

I have managed to get Emerald Mines CD working on HD, with a menu to select any level data, or graphic mode.
the WHDLoad just takes an age to start before crashing on my setup. Does it work for you?.

Emerald Mines CD was a bloody nightmare to install, I tell ya'. :)

I took ages to install and pack, even with super ridiculous über-Amiga settings in WinUAE.

I'm not looking forward to the day it gets an update and I'll have to repack all 50000+ files once again.

[edit]
Yes, it works for me, I always test the games before I upload.

the install just moves files from one folder to another.
drag and drop files on PC to correct folders takes 2 mins.

test this version, it's future proof.
you can add your own levels to data folder.
only uses 1 set of hi-scores 162 instead of 188 lots of 162 files. :P

Thanks for the Music Mad and the tip...

3000 games now, none missing, is that right?

95 Whdloads to go, not a priority...

Thank you ever so much, I hope it didn't wear out the ferret on the treadmill and the whippet backup power :)

Thanks for the effort but unfortunately an HDF is of no use on real hardware. :)
Besides, I have my trusty C64+1541U-II right next to the A500 & A1200, if I feel like collecting some diamonds and dodging some rocks, I'll give Boulderdash a whirl. :P

i did it for GAMEBASE. :)

It will work if you copy the EM folder to your real HD.
i can send the FILES if you want?.

Hi Paul,
My whippet is going crazy at your avatar.

Image

GameBase setup reloaded (+emu, kick and caps.dll).
fixed a few things, added WHDLoad web links and put Amiga Icons in the tabs. :)

http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi ... 8039223255
this also contains 3 MDB for whichever WHDpack you have.

These downloads contain all the WHDLoad updated files from Retroplay's folder (repacked to ZIP)
and fixes since KGWHD 2009

KWHD to GBAmigav2 part 1 (303MB)
https://mega.nz/#!roh3SKZS!X_-nnT_P2RcV ... yZPpvtHLPU

KWHD to GBAmigav2 part 2 (579MB)
https://mega.nz/#!K8hxxCyK!7d6VoslcSmJL ... 3GrUW3qzsE

What to do...
Download the all the KGWHD game packs (A-Z) http://kg.whdownload.com/kgwhd/

Then copy the download files to the A-Z folders.
you will have 0 missing!

Just to avoid possible confusion:

Terminator2ArcadeGame_v1.2_0151 is mislabelled, it's Mr. Larmers (RIP) old v1.0 install from 1998.

I have just uploaded StingRays new v1.1 to EAB FTP and my MEGA folder.

Just figured out how to make the HDF files bigger.
They all have 1MB free space for saves, scores or a WHDLoad boot file.
Do you think this is enough?.

i can't see a save game being any larger than that.
Obviously you will be limited to the number of saves, but there has to be a limit on the size.
Should be a solution for games that do not work with a savestate.

tested LSL3 with 20 save games.

That should be enough considering some installs create an empty 880kb diskimage for saves on first boot.

AnimalFat uploaded at Pleasuredome The WHDLoad Complete Collection as at 2016-01-21.
This collection is based on the hard work of
KillerGorilla (KHWHD) and continued by Retroplay,
TheCyberDruid and Magix (WHDownload).
Plus all the installation creators at WHDLoad & JST!
Should I upload ?
I love Gamebase's creators and compilations
