We're
so confident we'll release something before the end
of this year, we created a new forum for discussing
it! :)

"Blockbusting
mega-release from US Gold with a remarkably authentic
atmosphere."
This
htlmized review contains text from both issue 2 and
3 as there was a little 'misunderstanding' the first
time it was reviewed...
Warren
Pilkington was again all to quick to rip the Sids
out of Everyone's a Wally and last week's Brian
Jack's Superstar Challenge. As a result, these reviews
were updated with the respective SIDs. Thanks Wozza!
:)
Finally,
I'd like to thank Jason Sabourin of Retro
View fame for contributing the truly rare Colossal
Cave Adventure which graced our Rare Games Corner
a few weeks ago.

Due
to several tasks taking a much larger development time
than anticipated, GB V2 won't be ready for release this
Christmas. We therefore are thinking of a limited beta
release, starting with the GB V2.0 program, a possibly
limited beta database and screenshots in about Christmas
time and continuing well into 2002 with the official
release which will present Gamebase in its complete
form. This will mean that if, for example, you download
the 60MB screenshot pack on Christmas, you'll have to
overwrite it with the official over-100MB screenshot
pack a few months later. Do
you want this limited release to happen, or you prefer
to wait for the finished product? A post has appeared
in our forum about this subject, and you better voice
your opinion for the decision is to be taken within
this month.

Sander van der Aa
has spent quite some time to create a database of the
C64 cracking group intros, complete with screenshots,
for use with Gamebase v1.3. You can download the database
and the six screenshot files (800k each) at his site
All
Commodore Links -- and if you know of cracker intros
that are not included, why not help the guy produce
an update!

Many
thanks go to Warren Pilkington who was too quick
at ripping both sids from last week's games (their reviews
are now updated). However this week's Brian Jack
too needs Sid extraction -- and let's not forget Everyone's
a Wally and Talladega whose reviews remain
sidless to this day...

I'm
tired of searching the net to see if a game is present
or not in order to put it in the corner -- as a result
I'll cease doing it! We
have the list of gamebase games online, so YOU can make
the search and propose five titles through our forum,
out of which I'll be chosing the most worthwhile for
the corner. Needless to say, no game proposals (or no
worthwhile game proposals) will mean no update for the
corner...

This
week I'm off for military re-training in Greek Macedonia
so I won't have internet access, but hopefully I'll
be back in one piece next Sunday -- just in time for
our next update...

With
a game-related demo for a change!
By
the way, last month's unfortunate mention of Zork
being a transfer of the mainframe Adventure caused
letters of protest by disatisfied adventurers to flood
my mailbox. The not-entirely-true statement has been
removed in order to protect the innocent, but let me
just mention here that although Zork is a port
of the mainframe Dungeon, Dungeon was
inspired and heavilly influenced by Adventure
-- so there! :)
