GB64 Recommended Games...

Radar Rat Race
Neo-Rio says: Rally-X never got a C64 conversion, but Radar Rat race is a decent clone. Instead of cars and flags... we have mice and cheese! I fondly remember playing this game to death!

Fantasy World Dizzy
Neo-Rio says: In the words of Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw - this is the best game ever made. Considering he reviews games by ripping them to pieces, you'll know that this game is something special.

Wizard of Wor
J2003C says: Tis a true classic! Great for 1 or 2 players. The increasing speed of the game makes breaking your highscore a real challenge. The game is so simple looking, but such a solid design that you won't even notice after zapping your first Wizard of Wor!

International Soccer
Michael Plate says: Brilliant sports game at the time. In '85 I lost the final of the International Soccer school championships against my brother. Damn!!

Paradroid
Mayhem says: An arcade game that plays strategically? Andy Braybrook knew what he was doing. The excellent line-of-sight rules make this quite the game of cat and mouse at times.

Zork I - The Great Underground Empire
Steve says: first-ever "interactive-fiction"-product from infocom and the most popular text adventure ever, written in 1981; Infocom essentially invented the wheel to fit the limitations of the day. Flawed by current standards, but still a remarkable achievement. You, the adventurer, stumble on the remains of the Great Underground Empire, and seek out the treasures hidden there.

Castle Wolfenstein
Neo-Rio says: "Achtung!" As well as being banned in Germany, this is the original inspiration for iD's "Wolfenstein 3D" and the FPS genre. This golden oldie forces you to rely on stealth more than firepower however. In game speech too.

Street Sports Baseball
graveyardjohn says: "Yer Out!", rang the smug cry when it was time to swap players on this one. Take ages to decide which kids to have on your team, then argue about the amount of wide balls which are thrown! Aaahh...the game to bring back memories of that childish bickering...

Stormlord
Neo-Rio says: An immensely beautiful platform game, with some great music and playability. A bit frustrating at times, but not enough to keep you coming back.
